Kate Moss shows off Parisian street style

When it comes to celebrity street style, Kate Moss is most definitely the queen. Just in case we needed reminding of that fact, the model showed off another impeccable outfit as she left her hotel in Paris yesterday.

Moss stepped out for lunch at Le Petit Vendome wearing a pussy-bow silk shirt teamed with skinny jeans and a pair of lace-up, knee-high boots by YSL. (Perhaps she's channelling the Louis Vuitton look from the Autumn/Winter catwalk show she starred in last season?)

In true Mossy style, her look was complete with some carefully chosen accessories - a red leather tote and of course, a fedora. Très chic.

How do you rate Kate's latest street style? Let us know and take a look below to see how far she has come since her early modelling days.

Adolfo Sanchez: a design in review

There are many things you can say about fashion, and there are a lot of categories you could fit it into including things like: style, brand, high-end or ready-to-wear etc.   However, I want to describe a new website www.adolfosanchezdesigns.com, and the designer, as one of fashions’ newest iconic influences by affiliation.  What I mean is, “Adolpho Sanchez” is bringing an increasing vision to the way women are flattered and fitted by “high-style.”  Adolpho Sanchez has, in a determined and creative technique, been able to leverage what it takes to be a designer of “high-end” empowering trends for women.

His focus is: style for women to be engaging to them, must fearlessly, by devotion to the effect, enable them to be who they are, by wearing exactly what they like.  He is designing fashion for a class with definable richness that self-describes his plunging necklines with long-sleeves and pleated short-skirt combinations, so that by just viewing his dress pictorials you can understand what every designer already knows so well about style.  If I were to put a label on his designs, I’d say he makes clothes that take the look of an “Urban Warrior” but removes some of the “edge” and re-implements every stitch of feminine class, elegance and luxury!  I’d say that all of the “classic staples” of his “Victorian Goth” are at the forefront of his design repertoire, and are what his main collection is about.

There are furs, satins and silks that crop, a-line, puff-up, ruffle-out and pencil in, the figure of fashion for women so descriptively, that you can easily see why each dress was made, and why the runway model has it so easy when doing their usual catwalk in tandem with his specific genre representation!  What an incredible style-statement the fur in his ensemble made, that had the ruffle on the skirt down the middle, with the luxurious silky/satin puffed long-sleeve (shoulder) shirt (all in black)!  I will be watching the makings of this designer, in the future, not only because there were many things to relate to at the start, but, because I know he has a lot more to produce, fashion-wise.  I want to be there when all of his influences become a permanent part of him, and Alexander McQueen (to name one) and the others, that he has been inspired by since the tender ages of 15 and 16 (living in California) have their impact and reality strikes a new cord for the world-of-style with celebratory excellence happening all over again!

Guess who's designing a collection for "Macy's?"

Karl Lagerfeld!  That's who...
 >>Karl Lagerfeld's 45-piece limited-edition collection for Macy's hits 235 of the retailer's stores and online later this month — on Aug. 31 — and finally, there's a look at more than just one dress from the line. The collection, which runs $50 to $170, stays much within Lagerfeld's designing comfort zone — lots of black and white with pops of pink, lots of high collars, several pieces showing off imagery of the designer himself. The full collection — plus a peek at the ad campaign, featuring Coco Rocha — in the slideshow.

SJP steps out in skinny cropped leather trousers and sunnies

Here at MyDaily HQ, we've come to learn that Sarah Jessica Parker looks good in pretty much everything she wears. Her latest street style ensemble is another good case in point.

sarah-jessica-parkerSarah Jessica Parker out and about in New York. Photo: bauergriffinonline
SJP was spotted out and about in New York's West Village yesterday wearing cropped, skinny leather trousers (definitely a difficult style to wear) teamed with a mac, an over-the-shoulder bag and a pair of suede stilettos. Her look was complete with a scraped back hair do and oversized sunnies.

It's half mum on the school run, half sophisticated dinner date but somehow, we think her mismatched outfit it works.

Words of IMAN...on LIFE (hereafter)

Iman On Her New Platinum Collection for HSN, Why She’ll Never Go Back to Modeling, and Her Reaction to Vogue Italia’s Racist Gaffe

Iman says her supermodel days are behind her but she’s still got the super touch at the Home Shopping Network. Her “Global Chic” collection for HSN became the second best seller in fashion for the network in three years. So when HSN CEO Mindy Grossman asked Iman to add to her best-selling under $100 collection with more luxe and higher priced accessories she embraced the challenge. It’s called the Platinum Collection and it launches today. The line is comprised of bags, wallets, gloves and coats all done in real leather, suede and pony hair for under $300.
I got a chance to see the collection and chat with Iman about expanding her line at a higher price point when the economy is taking a nosedive, why HSN will be her only foray into the fashion world (read: no more fashion shows or editorial for this supermodel) and her reaction to Vogue Italia’s now infamous “Slave Earrings” feature.
Fashionista: So how did this relationship with HSN come about?
When i came to HSN three years ago I only wanted to do accessories because that’s my love. I picked up my baby blue Hermes bag today and that’s how I put this outfit together. I’m an accessories girl. So when I came in I created bags and accessories, it became a huge success, and then Mindy asked me to create some fashion things and I told her, ‘I’m not a fashion designer.’ I’ve been around fashion designers and it’s not an easy thing. So I created a couple of things and before I knew it the line was the second best seller in fashion on HSN in three years.
Were you apprehensive about creating a line at a higher price point when Global Chic was initially all under $100?
I was very worried with the economy how it is. A customer for three year who has been shopping at a price point of under $100 and then all of a sudden it’s higher? But this is about pulling in a new customer. People will look at these pieces and say, “That’s HSN?” It’s still mass and it’s still affordable.
When I present the collection [today] it will be like a fashion show–there will be lighting like on a runway, all the models for the first time ever will have the same hair and makeup like a proper show. And i’ll be on my feet in heels for two hours and I haven’t done that since I was a model. We’re talking about 1989. I don’t stand in high heels for two hours. Who does that?
You’re launching your newest collection for HSN right before fashion week–will you be involved in anyway or going to any shows?
I’ve said it but no one ever believes me. I stopped modeling in 1989 and I’ve never been to a fashion show since then. I was at the tents at Lincoln Center as an interior decorator–I did the Mercedes lounge–and when they saw me everyone was like, ‘Come to a show!’ But I’m done.
Why do you say that with such finality?
Because I worked with literally every designer. So when I stopped I was invited and there was no way I could do one and not do the other and if I did everybody, and I know my industry very well, they will say, ‘Oh poor her, she wants to come back.’ Come on, I know fashion people. The reason I lasted this long is because I’m not around them all the time!
You were one of the pioneering women of color in this industry. What’s your reaction to Vogue Italia running a feature titled “Slave Earrings”?
I’m a huge fan of Franca Sozzani and Vogue Italia’s website because they have a whole section on black models. Is it controversial? Yes. The naming of it, I don’t get it. I sometimes wonder in this age of reality shows has it become part of the language–the more controversy the more [buzz] it creates. But yeah, I didn’t like it. Slave does not make it ethnic. Mind you, it’s not lost in translation–the word slave, we know what it is. They might as well have called them “n***** earrings.” For somebody like Franca Sozzani, who did that whole black issue for Vogue, somebody should have said something.
Take a look at Iman’s Platinum Collection for HSN.

Dressing Miss Gaga

Mugler's white translucent silicone bodysuit and bolero.
Mugler’s white translucent silicone bodysuit and bolero.

What happens when the style guru behind pop’s wildest looks takes over a storied French fashion house? David Colman visits Nicola Formichetti, the new man at Mugler.

July 2011
IMAGINE THAT YOU ARE A fashion stylist plucked from relative obscurity to take the reins of a storied French fashion house. Now imagine that, because of your reputation as costumer to the most Googled woman in the world, the entire fashion “editocracy” wants a seat at your first show. And that you have an ace up your sleeve: The fame monster herself, Lady Gaga, will be making her catwalk debut. What do you do? Do you go to any length to make sure your audience of über powerful tastemakers is instantly blown away? Not if you’re Nicola Formichetti.
Instead, when the newly minted creative director of Mugler unveiled his first women’s collection this past March in Paris, he lined the runway with a phalanx of Gothic arches that, from the side, looked like the skeleton of a prehistoric beast. However, for the fashion elite in the audience, the arches were an outright annoyance, obscuring their view of the clothes—a problem about which no reviewer failed to grouse. What they didn’t realize was that the effect was entirely intentional. Through the lenses of the cameras photographing and recording the show, the arches formed a fantastic frame. And it was the video—which has since been watched by some 120 million people, thanks in part to Formichetti’s savvy Twitter campaign—that the neophyte designer cared most about. “I wanted all the younger generation out there to have better seats than Anna Wintour,” he told me a few weeks later, fiddling with a cigarette in the kitchen of his loft in New York’s TriBeCa. As he sees it, the set was designed expressly for the most powerful people in fashion, and they saw the show perfectly.
THAT’S NOT TO SAY that the clothes he presented were beside the point. The lean and sexy collection of boleros, corsets, bodysuits, and sheaths was a smart balance of old-world refinement (wool, silk, fur) and futuristic fetish (neoprene, latex, silicone). Even the view-deprived critics had to admit that Formichetti’s designs—tough and tight, with perversely nipped waists and Mugler’s famous peaked shoulders—had the potential to energize a new customer base for the house, which has always been known for its glamazon silhouettes and outrageous presentations. (During his heyday, Thierry Mugler, who now goes by the name Manfred, routinely turned his models into cyber-vixens, otherworldly insects, and PVC-clad dominatrices.)
At 34, Formichetti doesn’t exactly qualify as a wunderkind, but he does represent a new breed of designer—one who realizes that 21st-century fashion success has less to do with what’s going on in the atelier than what’s happening on the Web. “It was Gaga who told me all about Twitter,” said the designer, who has 67,000 followers on the social-networking site. “She reads all her messages, and sometimes she sends ones back. She really thinks about what people say. Fans don’t lie. They just tell you what they really think, and they see details that even people in fashion don’t. I love the idea that you can talk directly to a designer or an artist in this way. We don’t need anyone else in between. We don’t need these marketing people. We don’t even need magazines!”

The "New Edition" Model News....

While Vogue Paris‘ massive 65 page Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin editorial is heavy on tried and true favorites like Shalom Harlow and Raquel Zimmermann, the most exciting portions of the story involve girls who are making their Vogue Paris debut. Inez & Vinoodh bring out something different in each girl – Regina Feoktistova looks lady like in Ferre. Sessilee Lopez brings her signature dramatic flair to her pictures while Ranya Mordanova is avant garde in rainbow colored face paint. Dree Hemingway bares all in a simple black and white picture and Elsa Sylvan is the ideal Chloe girl in her over the knee boots. Last but certainly not least, Tao Okamoto adds an edge to Giorgio Armani’s signature suits.

Post Water Park Exhaustion

Guest post written by Courtney Gibson

I try to stay active with my kids, which can be quite the task will a full-time job and lots of mommy errands to run! But part of staying active is trying to encourage us going on active family outings so that my kids will associate exercise with fun! I wasn't always lucky enough to do that myself growing up so I really want to instill that in them.

I was online not too long ago looking for new day outings to take them on this summer. That's when I saw http://www.clear-internet.com and signed up our household for the service.

That day I also got the idea to take them to the water park, so that's exactly what I did just a few days ago. We went on a Saturday when my husband could go to, just to make sure that we all kept up with each other. It was really fun and I'm always glad to swim because it's such fun and good exercise! Now we'll just have to make a few trips back there this summer because my kids loved it so much!

a few details: From a French-Morracan Styled Apartment (a re-blog)

Two apartments combined into one made it possible for the owner of this home to bring Morocco and the influence of Mediterranean Africa in a small town near Paris. From the entrance you can feel the blue mood, which goes from one room to another. Parallel with it you can feel the femininity and exoticness in the details - gorgeous wooden furniture, impressive textile and amazing decoration.

I just love the arrangements with hands of Fatima on the wall. It is popular amulet throughout the Middle East and North Africa and represents a protection against people with bad intentions and ill-wishers.

Resort 2012: Calvin Klein Collection

Calvin Klein Collection Resort 2012Calvin Klein Collection Resort 2012
View Gallery
On Wednesday morning, Francisco Costa showed his Resort 2011 collection at CK HQ on 39th Street, and in case you were wondering, minimalism isn't going anywhere. Of course, it's only Costa who manages to execute this vibe with such a light touch and effortless effect. With t-shirt dressing as a starting point, the twenty looks brilliantly played with length and volume. Billowing silk pants, paired with a tailored jacket, are an updated option for Summer's ubiquitous maxi skirt, while Costa's take on a sheath—elbow-length, with a slightly fuller skirt that narrows a few inches below the knee—is another welcome transgression from the norm. With a palette of mostly black, white, royal blue, and lilac, there was nary a bright in sight—but then again, Costa never needs to shout.

LeAnn Rimes In A Bikini On Twitter, Defending Her Weight (PHOTOS)

(a re-blog)
LeAnn Rimes took to Twitter over the weekend to show off photos of herself in a string bikini on the beach in Cabo San Lucas, where she and Eddie Cibrian are honeymooning.
Some fans were alarmed by her extremely thin appearance. "@leannrimes Whoa, you're scary skinny! Sorry don't mean to offend but that's a lot of bones showing through skin..." one wrote.
LeAnn replied, "@AJPaterson1987 those are called abs not bones love."
Later on she tweeted about a fast food stop in the airport.
"Boston Dog's sliders and French fries in the Cabo airport are so good! Anyone coming here try them!!!" she wrote.
This is not the first time LeAnn has shared a bikini pic or defended her weight and healthy eating habits on Twitter.

Fashion News...Editors Cut Sizing out of Outfits to Appease Celeb Ego's

The Today Show" took a look at the difference in clothing sizes among retailers, after the New York Times' most e-mailed article on Monday was "One Size Fits Nobody." Said report, in a nutshell:
Take a woman with a 27-inch waist. In Marc Jacobs's high-end line, she is between an 8 and a 10. At Chico's, she is a triple 0. And that does not consider whether the garment fits in the hips and bust. (Let's not get into length; there is a reason most neighborhood dry cleaners also offer tailoring.)
Uh-huh. Exactly as we suspected.
Writer Stephanie Clifford told Ann Curry that men's sizing was standardized around the time of Civil War uniforms, but there were no measurements put in place for women and eventually designers started dabbling in the dark world of vanity sizing. Clifford also believes that sizing issues have upped the outrageous amount of clothing returns -- $194 billion last year.
More magazine's Lesley Jane Seymour was on-hand to share the following anecdote: "When we go to shoots, it's all about the ego. We actually cut out the size. If a celebrity says that she's a size 8 and we know she's not, we cut the sizes out because she won't put it on if it says it's a size 10."
